Membership Information
DECA utilizes online membership reporting for all of its state associations. The online membership system will allow Minnesota DECA chapters to easily submit state & national members, effectively manage chapter membership, and obtain 24-hour real-time access to membership data and reports. Chapters log on to the membership system and follow a step-by-step process to record their members. The system will calculate the dues owed for both Minnesota DECA and National DECA Inc. and generate an invoice. The chapter then prepares a single check for the dues and forwards it to National DECA, Inc. Membership is confirmed when DECA Inc. receives and processes the dues check. Chapters may add additional members at any time.
Download complete instructions on the membership process on either the state website, www.mndeca.org or the national website, www.deca.org. For your convenience they are also linked below.
If you are a new chapter, you will need to establish a chapter password when you visit the site for the first time. It is recommended that you use all lower case for the id and password. To do this, you will need to have your chapter id as well. Those numbers are attached to this email as well.
Lastly, it is imperative that you make sure you first click on edit chapter information to update your mailing address, phone number, fax number, whether or not your 100%, whether or not you operate a School Based Enterprise (SBE), and other pertinent details about your chapter. If these items are not updated then you may miss out on the recognition. We will use whatever was submitted on your roster to award the recognition.
If you are new to DECA, once you are accustomed to this system, I am sure you will find it very user friendly. National DECA has done an outstanding job developing the system for the state associations. Please contact Jackie at the state office if you have difficulties!

Does your chapter run a school store?
School-based enterprises are effective educational tools in helping to prepare students for the transition from school to work or college. For many students, they provide the first work experience; for others, they provide an opportunity to build management, supervision and leadership skills. While some in the education community have only recently discovered the value of school-based enterprises, marketing educators and DECA advisors have used them as a powerful teaching tool for more than four decades.
