State Career Development Conference
All State/Provincial Associations host a career development conference in the spring. It is here that DECA members will compete to earn the right to attend the International Career Development Conference. It is also here where Minnesota DECA presents two special awards, the Honorary Life Membership Award and the Outstanding Marketing Executive Award.
Marketing education prepares high school students for rewarding careers in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. Minnesota DECA, a school-to-work student organization, enhances that education by providing marketing related activities and leadership development based directly on classroom study. Minnesota DECA combines career exploration with school-based and work-based learning, allowing students to connect the classroom with the world of work. DECA's activities also focus on competition at the district, state and international levels in specific occupational skills, leadership development and management training and leadership conferences.
Participation in DECA furthers development skills in leadership, management skills, civic consciousness, job responsibility motivation to excel, good work habits, critical thinking and problem solving.
